Trainer Robert Heathcote agrees with the bookie’s assessment of Buffering’s chances and expects him to claim victory at in Melbourne tomorrow night.

“You could drag Buffering out of a spelling paddock and he’d run well. He just runs to his best every time,” he said.

“I think he has done enough to win. I’m going to The Valley expecting him to win.

“The gate (two) is a bonus. I think he is the best horse in the race and he should prove that on the way he is shaping again this campaign.

“I think this is his time to get the recognition he deserves.”

Buffering finished a close second in his most recent two race starts, with his first being in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000.

His last run resulted in a second placing behind Mid Summer Music in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap.

The five-year-old will be looking to claim his first Group 1 title this spring racing carnival.

Second favourite for the 2012 AJ Moir Stakes is Tiger Tees at $3.70, while Ready To Rip is on the third line of betting at bookmaker.com.au paying $7.50.

The least backed runner in the 2012 AJ Moir Stakes betting is Green Birdie, who is paying $21 to win the race.
