The 2013 Moir Stakes will take place under weight-for-age conditions and is open to horses of all ages.

Scheduled to run as part of Moir Stakes Day, the race shares its program with the Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes, Group 3 JRA Cup and Group 3 Champagne Stakes.

Buffering is likely to have his first-up run for the spring in the 2013 Moir Stakes .

The six-year-old has had a short spell following his second placing in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap and will now look to claim his well-earned first Group 1 win in the 2013 Moir Stakes.

Buffering has won 12 of his 34 race starts in total and has earned more than $2.37 million in prize money during his horse racing career.

The Mossman gelding is trained at Eagle Farm Racecourse by leading Brisbane trainer Robert Heathcote.

“A lot of his other first-up runs in the past have been Group 2s, which he has duly won, and then we have gone onto Group 1s,” Heathcote told the Herald Sun.

“This time we will use the asset of having such a brilliant first-up horse, and even though it is 1200m I’ve got plenty of time to have him ready for that.”
