Chautauqua Favourite in Early 2016 Moir Stakes Betting

September 26th, 2016

Champion sprinter Chautauqua is understandably the sole occupant of the top line of 2016 Moir Stakes betting markets, after being included in nominations for Friday’s feature race at Moonee Valley.

Chautauqua has been the standout of the world sprinting ranks for the last twelve months, and enters the 2016 Moir Stakes a five-time winner at the highest level of racing.

Returning to racing this year a classy win in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m), Chautauqua failed to fire when third in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) but responded with a successful defence of his crown in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m).

Last seen taking out the Group 1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m) in Hong Kong on May 1st, the Encosta De Lago gelding should just too good for his rivals at Moir Stakes odds of $2.40.

Three-year-old Extreme Choice is another horse that will return to racing on Friday night and is currently sole occupant of the second line of betting at Moir Stakes odds of $3.80.

Extreme Choice stamped himself as a colt to follow with a two length win in the Inglis Nursery (1000m) on December 12th, and returned this year for a near-five length win in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m).

Justifying his favouritism when taking out the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on February 27th, the Not A Single Doubt colt was last seen finishing a luckless eighth in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) on March 19th.

Lucky Hussler is a proven first-up performer, winner at the track and is more than worth consideration for a bet at 2016 Moir Stakes odds of $7.

Resuming in 2015 for success in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) at The Valley, Lucky Hussler continued to impress throughout a typically-smart spring campaign, highlighted by a win in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m).

Taking out the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on the Gold Coast on January 9th, Lucky Hussler was a good thing beaten in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) on February 13th, but failed to make anything of his run in this year’s William Reid Stakes last time out.

Reigning champion Buffering ($8.50) is the only other runner currently available at 2016 Moir Stakes odds of less-than $10 with Ladbrokes.com.au.
