Redzel has always shown plenty on the racetrack but has undoubtedly stepped up in class and ability since transferring to the care of Team Snowden from Gerald Ryan’s stables prior to his 2015 Spring Carnival preparation.

Snowden concedes that the classy son of Snitzel faces a huge task in overcoming the likes of Chautauqua and Buffering in the Moir Stakes 2016, but told Racing Victoria that he is confident the horse’s form and the conditions of the race suggest he is a live chance.

“He’s going really well,” Snowden said.

“You’d probably say he’s outclassed, but if you look at the times he’s running and the way he’s winning, he’s definitely worth a crack at it.

“It’s 1000m here, I know its weight-for-age and meeting Buffering and Chautauqua who are far superior horses, but speed is what it is, and if you’ve got it, why not use it?”

Redzel has posted four wins and a further three minors through eleven career starts, since debuting to racing in the autumn of 2015.

Running fifth in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) in his first start for the Snowdens last spring, Redzel again finished fifth in the Group 2 The Run To The Rose (1200m) before ending his year fifth once more in the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m).

Returning to racing this year for second in the Hyland Race Colours BM78 (1000m) on February 10th, the gelding out of Millrich again finished second in the Spark Of Life Handicap (1100m) before breaking through for a maiden black type win in the Listed Fireball Stakes (1100m).

Having been returned to the paddock after placing fifth in the Listed Gosford Guineas (1200m), Redzel is yet to taste anything but success this time having taken out the July Sprint (1100m) and Group 3 The Heath (1100m); beating Group 1 winner Under The Louvre in the latter.

Redzel is currently available at 2016 Moir Stakes odds of $17 in early betting markets with leading online bookie
