Russian Revolution Leads 2017 Moir Stakes Betting

September 26th, 2017

Group 1 winner Russian Revolution is an outright and justifiable favourite to win Friday night’s 2017 Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley.

That is the tale of the tape in Moir Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, where the talented four-year-old is currently the sole occupant of the top line at a $3.30 quote.

Russian Revolution has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far and resumed this year for a smart win in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 18th.

Progressing to sixth in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and fourth in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1200m) before being sent to the paddock, the Snitzel colt beat a classy field with complete ease in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) first-up on September 9th.

Co-trainer Paul Snowden was pleased with everything that the horse produced in hit-out at The Valley on Monday morning and believes that he will prove extremely hard to beat in the Moir Stakes 2017.

“He did a fair bit of work late last week,” Snowden told AAP.

“Today was just a similar sort of routine to what we did the other week.

“It was just a nice, cruisy breeze around. He wasn’t asked to do much but it was mainly just getting himself prepared for Friday night.

“It just tops him off. He handles the track super. He loves it.”

She Will Reign has not been seen at the races since March, but is undoubtedly one of the class horses of the Moir Stakes field and is subsequently the early second-favourite at $4.40 odds.

She Will Reign stormed onto the Australian racing scene via dominant performances in the Festive Season Maiden (1000m) and Inglis Nursery (1000m) in December and resumed this year for a smart win in the Group 2 Silver Slipper (1100m).

Failing to fire when second in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) on March 4th, the Manhattan Rain filly stamped her dominance with a comfortable win in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at her most recent appearance.

She Will Reign has trialled well in the lead-up to the Moir Stakes and would not look out of place in the winner’s stall first-up.

Malaguerra ($7) is interestingly the only other runner currently available at 2017 Moir Stakes odds of less-than $10 at Ladbrokes.com.au.
